A Christmas road trip can establish new family traditions. which is part of what makes the Christmas season so magical. Rather than dragging the artificial tree down from the attic, why not take a family road trip to cut down your own Christmas tree?

Load up the car, fill the travel mugs with hot cocoa, crank your favorite Christmas carols, and head to one of these bona fide Christmas tree farms within driving distance of the Puget Sound area.

 

Beerbower Xmas Tree Farm in Elma

Located 1.5 hours from the Seattle area, a trip to the Beerbower Xmas Tree Farm makes for the perfect road trip. Not only do they have more than 12,000 trees to choose from, but they guarantee that the tree you purchase will be completely free of defects. Beerbower Xmas Tree Farm is one of the few farms open after dark, allowing you and your family to enjoy dazzling light displays and a relaxing nightly bonfire. Complimentary cookies, hot chocolate, and candy canes are also offered at this family-owned tree farm, making the experience that much sweeter.

Carnation Tree Farm in Carnation

This farm, located about a 40-minute drive west of Seattle, offers both cut-your-own and pre-cut Christmas trees. Carnation Tree Farm prides itself on old-fashioned Christmas spirit. Stroll through the farm’s 16 acres, sip free hot cider, pick up handmade wreaths, local mistletoe, and holly plants. Plus, enjoy a visit with Santa on select Saturdays and Sundays at the farm. Carnation Tree Farm uses green farming techniques and is one of the only certified Salmon Safe tree farms in the Pacific Northwest. The farm is open every day from November 23 until the trees are gone.

Enchanted Winds Christmas Tree Farm in Issaquah

Located just over 30 minutes from Seattle, this gorgeous route winds through Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park and Squak Mountain State Park before ending just outside Tiger Mountain State Forest. Make a day of it by planning a family hike or bringing a picnic lunch. When you arrive at Enchanted Winds Christmas Tree Farm, you will be greeted with 15 acres of trees. Tag your favorite, and the staff will cut it down and securely tie it to your car. The on-site gift barn at this family-owned farm offers free cookies and hot cider along with a selection of ornaments and greenery. On pleasant days, you can even take a hayride around the grounds. The season starts November 24th, and the farm is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (10 a.m. on Thursdays and Fridays).

Snowshoe Evergreen Christmas Tree Farm in Puyallup

Drive 45 minutes south of Seattle to find this 100-year-old family-owned Christmas tree farm. Featuring 55 acres of five different types of fresh evergreens. You will also find a full nursery, handmade wreaths, and much more. Snowshoe Evergreen Christmas Tree Farm proudly participates in Trees for Troops, donating 100 trees to the families of service members every year. Hours are from 10 a.m. to dusk during the week and 9 a.m. to dusk on weekends, starting November 24th.

Three Tree Farms in Maple Valley

Just over 40 minutes from Seattle, this great farm caters to newbies by offering staff to help you cut, trim, and tie down your chosen Christmas tree. Three Tree Farms is at the base of the Taylor Mountains in the Cascade Hills, offering a picturesque setting for this timeless Christmas road trip tradition. You will find more than 5,000 beautiful trees along with complimentary homemade baked goods and hot cocoa, as well as espresso-based drinks.
